With the coming of 5G and a smarter, more connected world, service providers face a plethora of strategic business and technology decisions with major ramifications for the future.  

5G-enabled breakthroughs in throughput, lower latency and networking flexibility should open new revenue opportunities and business models for operators. Powerful new use cases around evolved Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications and massive Machine-to-Machine Communications (mMTC) will push the boundaries of digital transformation and network dependency for customers.

29 5G Headway Report What's Hindering and Helping 5G Deployment
Last year the Business Performance Innovation Network examined where service providers were in the rollout and deployment of 5G Networks.  The report uncovered that, while operators were pushing through the deployment of high-speed 5G networks for new revenue opportunities, there was a high level of concern around the security.
 
A year later, the BPI Network is revisiting this discussion in a new report that will look at the progress that service providers have made on their journey to 5G. Has there been any change to the timeline or the drivers? Is the expected growth in network traffic, connected devices and mission-critical IoT use cases taking place? Are service providers laying the security and reliability groundwork that was identified as a top priority? Are we already seeing a growth in attack surface and scale for cyber criminals?
 
The report will highlight the challenges and perspectives from leading IT and telco executives and examine how perceived 5G revenue opportunities and use cases have fared in the last 12 months. The BPI Network will also explore unexpected challenges, surprises and ramifications during the early rollout phase.
