Dr André A. de Waal MBA (born 1960) is Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Maastricht School of Management, Academic Director of the HPO Center (Center for Organizational Performance), an organization that researches and gives advice about high performance organizations and guest lecturer at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. He worked for seventeen years as an organizational advisor and partnerat Arthur Andersen and the Holland Consulting Group. André was selected by Managementboek.nl as one of the Dutch Masters in Management, ten people who have most influenced management thinking in the Netherlands in the last decade. CDs about his work have since been marketed in the Dutch Masters in Management and Management Topics series. André de Waal’s doctoral thesis was about the behavioral aspects that are important for successful implementation and use of performance management systems. As a consultant and researcher he primarily focuses on strategic performance management and organizations that excel. He has lectured about these topics and has conducted projects in countries such as the Netherlands, China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Nepal, Peru, Ecuador, Surinam, Great Britain, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, South Africa, Namibia and Tanzania.

André has authored more than 190 articles and 22 books in the area of performance management, high performance organizations and organizational improvement, including strategic performance management.
